Mike Starr, former bassist in the rock group Alice in Chains was found dead of unknown causes. He was 44 years old and had a history of Alice in Chains - promo picaddiction and drug abuse.

Recently, February 18, Starr was arrested on two felony counts of possession of 6 pills of a painkiller called Opana and 6 pills of Xanax without a legal prescription.

In 2009, Starr had appeared on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab and Sober House in 2010.

It is too early to speculate about the cause of death in the case, but painkillers and anti-anxiety drugs such as these are extremely dangerous when used in combination, or when combined with alcohol.

Alice in Chains began in 1990, with Starr. With songs that surrounded addiction and despair, they’re first release was an EP titled “We Die Young”.  The band’s lead singer, Layne Staley, died in 2002 at the age of 34 after battling heroin and crack addiction.
