2. What is Rehab?
Rehabilitation: to restore to a condition of good health, ability to work, or the like, as through therapy and education.
From Latin roots, the word means, really, to make fit again.
So we begin to see the distinction between detox and rehab. It’s one thing to take a person off drugs. Staying away from drugs for a few weeks doesn’t even do that, but if you actually clean their bodies of the accumulated toxic wastes of drug abuse, now they’re detoxed. But you’ve really only detoxed their body!
Rehabilitating the person is now the chore. And if rehab is done correctly, that is what will keep the former addict from reverting over and over again to the old habits of drug abuse.
