Another Celebrity Found Dead of Drug Abuse

Mike Starr, former bassist in the rock group Alice in Chains was found dead of unknown causes. He was 44 years old and had a history of Alice in Chains - promo picaddiction and drug abuse.

Recently, February 18, Starr was arrested on two felony counts of possession of 6 pills of a painkiller called Opana and 6 pills of Xanax without a legal prescription.

“I’ll Always Be an Addict”…Oh, Really?

I just read a blog-post where the author said, “I am an addict. I will always be an addict. Some people tell me that because I haven’t used drugs in years, I am no longer a drug addict, but I know better.”

He goes on to state that he wakes up every morning thinking about using drugs and wondering if he can make it through the day without relapsing!

I don’t know this guys history, but it’s pretty clear that he was never rehabilitated!

What keeps drug addicted people from seeking help? They have their REASONS.

I have spoken to so many people who need drug addiction treatment that I should be able to answer this question right off the top of my head.

But, while I have seen many hundreds of addicts coming in and receiving help, I have also seen and spoken to many thousands of others who needed to come to detox rehab but didn’t. The reasons they gave for not admitting themselves were so many and so varied that it is nearly impossible to nail one down as the most common, or the most valid.

Can’t Get Off Drugs? Here Is Why

Three basic things must occur for you to get off and stay off drugs. Each one is essential to your successfully staying clean living a drug-free life.

First, if you are blaming yourself for starting to use drugs, for being unable or unwilling to stop using drugs and for relapsing every time you quit, you are both right and wrong.

It is your fault, but it is not a matter of blame.

Blame is a waste of time and energy. If you blame yourself, what does that accomplish? Nothing. It makes you feel like an idiot and, really, you didn’t try to make yourself into an addicted person.
